Exclusively cut and designed by Kanichi Nagahara, every headjoint cut possess a different charm and characteristics to fit the very many styles of playing. Three basic embouchure cuts are available for Silver, Gold, and Platinum headjoints:


Diligente (D) -   Our most resistant cut with a dark and centered tone
Ardore     (A) -  The most  square cut,  bright and open sound, very free-blowing
Spianato (S) -   Smaller and more oval shape, traditional & more conservative
                               sound for smaller ensembles.

Combination cuts are also available such as:

DA -  A cross between the “D” and “A” cut.  Even flexibility & resistance
           through all registers. The most popular cut among flutists of all levels.
DS -  A cross between the “D” and “S” cut. Nice resistance with a more
          delicate voice, great for chamber ensembles.
 

Additionally we offer the option of a Konami style lipplate which features  a hand
hammered wave on the lipplate. The wave lightly raises the sides of the riser
enabling a more focused and direct projection. The Konami lipplate is great for
those players who would like a more clear tone with less effort.

Our Wood Headjoints also have  exclusive cuts made to enhance the
material's resonance. Three different cuts are available:

Modern- Clear and bold with artistic resistance through all register
Classic- Moderately resistant, very responsive with an elegant tone
Baroque-  Light with a dazzling and easeful tone
